If you're only using your rig for slow and easy trips around Festivals or town it 's probably easier to go with rigid mounts. There's a link running through the large frame tube of the sidecar that acts on an up right the wheel is attached to. This is a Flexi, the bike and sidecar wheel lean and the body stays upright. Most had some sort of springs under the body to lessen the shock to the passenger. If you'll look back into the history of sidecars that were mounted on hardtail bikes you'll see that they didn't have suspension on them either. Will it have enough clearance to drop the mount low enough to clear the frame when it leans ? Then through the magic of geometry, the sidecar will have a degree of steering built in.Ī possible problem with your Bobber is that it sits low. A refinement of that set up is to have the front mount higher than the rear. It's said the leaner works better with the mounts centered under the bike. why ? The subframe that takes the mounts is off-set to the outside of the lower frame rail. According to those with experience it's not a good set-up. I have a leaner built on a Moto Guzzi Convert.
